SOUND INSULATING GLASS
Our sound-insulating windows combine excellent acoustic performance with the benefits of classic laminated glass.
characteritics
The acoustic attenuation index Rw [dB] characterizes the sound insulation properties of a window. It indicates the difference in sound levels on each side of the glass.
The goal when choosing the right product is to provide acoustic comfort to the interior environment. Completely eliminating external noise is not desirable, as this is only reserved for certain special applications. Total absence of sound can feel strange, as in the absence of a background noise, the human ear focuses on other sounds, which can become sources of distraction.
The threshold of human hearing is set at 0 dB, while 120 dB corresponds to the maximum sound level, above which the sound causes physical pain.
All Mondo Style windows are equipped with glass that provides a minimum of 30 dB sound insulation, meaning that more than 80% of external noise is reduced. To maximize the acoustic attenuation index, it is important to use asymmetrical structures in which the thickness of one glass pane differs by at least 30% from the other. This prevents the resonance effect, which occurs in windows made from identical glass thicknesses and reduces the sound insulation performance of the structure.
